HELP THE HEROES PARIS BIKE RIDE

Geoff and Gill Reeve have just learnt that they have been selected to join the Band of Brothers bike ride to Paris that takes place between 23rd & 29th May to raise money for the Help For Heroes charity that supports our wounded servicemen.  The ride which has been timed to link with the anniversary of the allies liberation of France in 1945, will start in Cherbourg and take in the Normandy invasion beaches to Pegasus Bridge before turning south west to Villers Bocage then to Falais ending in Paris – a frightening 50-70 miles a day!  If you want to see how hard the ride will be I would suggest that you visit the Help For Heroes website and study the daily blog of the Battlefield Bike Ride of 2008. The ride will end along the Champs Elysse laying a wreath at the Arc de Triomphe.

We have agreed to raise a minimum of £4,000 sponsorship, of which we need a minimum of £1000 committed by 31st March 2009.

Geoff Reeve comments ‘09 will be a big year as we both hit 60 and will become grandparents so we cannot think of any better way to celebrate than by undertaking the ride to Paris.  We are both passionate over the need to support our servicemen and the pain we may feel during the ride will be nothing compared to the sacrifices so many of them continue to make.

The Help For Heroes website www.helpforheroes.org.uk gives a very strong message ‘It’s about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife.  It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes’.Although we accept that the property industry has been hit by the ‘credit crunch’ I do hope that having read the above you will feel able to sponsor us and help us exceed our target.
